Karachi, July 03: A group of Indian students has began a 10-day private visit to Pakistan to participate in a cultural festival.
The 15-member delegation was to prepare a documentary film to be shown at the close of the youth festival organised by a forum called Youth Initiative for Peace (YIP) in the southern port city of Karachi, YIP's spokesperson Anam Mansoori said yesterday. During the 10-day cultural workshop, Indian and Pakistani youths will collaborate in dance, music, film and arts projects.

"We are jointly making a documentary film about the cultural richness of the two countries that will be released on July 12," she told newspersons.
Police are standing guard around the residential facilities housing the Indian students, who are to be provided with escorts during outings in the city, authorities said.

People-to-people contacts between the two neighbours are slowly picking up after recent peace initiatives by the two governments.
Last month, a six-member delegation of Indian parliamentarians led by Independent MP Kuldip Nayyar paid a return visit to Pakistan after a similar tour of India by Pakistani parliamentarians.

A Pakistani business delegation is currently in India, while a bus service linking New Delhi and Lahore is set to resume on July 11.
