Guwahati, July 26: The Centre has sanctioned Rs 44 crore as first installment from the national calamity fund for flood relief in Assam, Union Minister for Department of Development of north eastern region C P Thakur said today. The second installment would be soon released after assessment of the flood situation in the state, Thakur told a press conference here. The Union Minister said a total of Rs 158 crore had been earmarked from the national calamity fund this year for the state. The balance amount would be sanctioned soon, he said. After an extensive visit to flood-affected areas along with a central team, Thakur said the Centre would provide all possible help to the state.
