Singapore, Apr 15: Ajay Kapur, Citigroup Inc.'s Asia-Pacific equities strategist, said he will move to New York in the middle of the year to head the firm's global strategy team. Kapur is replacing Matthew Merritt, the group's former London-based head of global equity strategy who left the firm. Kapur will oversee a five-member team and make recommendations on global asset allocations and equity strategy. The other team members haven't been decided yet, he said.
The strategist, who grew up in Delhi, was ranked the no. 3 Asian strategist in last year's Institutional Investor Survey of Fund Managers, after CLSA's Christopher Wood and UBS AG's Ian Mclennan.
Kapur joined Citigroup two years ago from Morgan Stanley, where his team was top-ranked by institutional investor.
``I've had my share of good and bad calls,'' said Kapur in Hong Kong.
