New Delhi, June 07: A dreaded criminal of Uttar Pradesh, wanted in many cases of heinous crimes, including murder, has been arrested by Delhi Police and a country-made pistol along with two live rounds were recovered from him. Harender Singh (26), hailing from Tigri village of Meerut district, was nabbed in Loni area of north east Delhi last night, Deputy Commissioner of Police (north east) Praveer Ranjan said.

Police said it had received an information that a criminal from up would come to Delhi and when Singh was found moving in suspicious manner, he was stopped and questioned, he said.

He could not give any satisfactory answers and tried to flee after brandishing a pistol, but was overpowered, Ranjan said.
Singh is allegedly involved in 14 cases of heinous crimes, including murder and attempt to murder, in UP, he said.

Earlier he had been arrested under the Goonda act by Uttar Pradesh police, the DCP said.
