Washington, Aug 10: A prominent American Senator, Christgopher Dodd, has introduced a legislation to monitor whether the H-1B and L-1 visa programmes result in job losses in the United States. The H-1B and L-1 visas enable foreign including Indian IT and other professionals to come to America for jobs.
Dodd`s bill also suggests to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act with respect to these visa programmes. The bill, which has at present no cosponsors, has been referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary. Earlier, Congressman Tancredo, the chairman of an immigration subcommittee in the Lower House, had sought to abolish H-1B visa. Bureau Report
