Los Angeles: JJ Abrams Bad Robot has acquired the rights to late-night talk show host Tavis Smiley's book "Death of a King" for a TV adaptation.

Bad Robot will produce the drama with Warner Bros Television, reported Entertainment Weekly.


The book follows the last year of King's life up until his assassination in 1968. Abrams will executive produces alongside Bad Robot's new head of TV, Ben Stephenson, as well as Smiley.
