Agartala, Feb 21: The Tripura government has demanded additional Central paramilitary force and four helicopters to beef up security for the Lok Sabha elections in the state. State Chief Electoral Officer K V Satyanarayan told reporters here that during the meeting with the Election Commission, the state government has put up these demands. State Chief Secretary R K Mathur, Director General of Police and Satyanarayan were present in the recent meeting held in New Delhi. Of the 226 companies of the Central paramilitary force demanded 100 companies should reach here a month in advance for their suitable deployment in the extremist prone areas, he said. The helicopters were required for transportation of polling and security personnel in the interior areas besides, air surveillance on the prevailing situation. The state government also demanded the Central fund in advance to conduct the ensuing election. The final voter list after the summary revision of the electoral rolls would be published on February 28, he said. In all 1,29,048 people had applied for inclusion of names in the voters' list, while 5,219 objections were also filed against inclusion and exclusion of names in the list. Tripura has two Lok Sabha constituencies. Ruling CPI(M) led left front has already announced their candidates, while the opposition parties were yet to declare the names of their nominees.
