Mumbai, Feb 26: Continuing its crackdown on illegal activities in the city, the Mumbai Police raided "matka" dens and single-digit lottery centres last night, arresting 176 persons and confiscating lottery tickets of Rs 18 lakh in the swoop, police sources said today. The raids at the gambling dens and the lottery centres were mainly confined to south and eastern parts of the city while one case each was registered in north and west of the metropolis also, they said.
The action comes a day after police raided 62 dancing bars and beauty parlours in Mumbai and detained 986 people, including over 700 bar-maids.
Police also raided a beauty parlour last evening in west Mumbai and arrested five persons for allegedly indulging in Immoral Traffic Act, the sources said. Bureau Report
