Patna, Oct 30: Chief Minister Rabri Devi was among the lakhs of devotees across Bihar who worshipped the setting sun god on the first day of Chhath Puja today seeking divine blessings. In the state capital, all roads led to the River Ganga where devotees offered puja at 97 ghats along the river.
Chief Minister Rabri Devi performed the puja at her official residence in the presence of her husband and RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav and a large number of ministers and party leaders.
She has been performing Chhath at her residence for the last three years to avoid inconvenience to common people, sources close to the CM said.
Many ministers in her cabinet are following suit by digging smaller ponds at their residences for the Chhath Puja.
The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the worshippers by cleaning the roads and putting up lights along all the main roads and by-lanes.
The Chhath Puja, performed to propitiate the sun god would end with offering of prayers to the rising sun tomorrow.
