New Delhi, May 29: Hours after meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Samajwadi Party leaders, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh met RLD chief Ajit Singh and are understood to have discussed strategies to cobble up a secular alternative to the BSP-BJP government led by Mayawati in Uttar Pradesh. During the 90-minute meeting they exchanged views on the formation of an alternative government in UP.

After meeting Gandhi, the SP chief had welcomed the initiative taken by Ajit Singh in the formation of a secular alternative.

Meanwhile, 14-member strong RLD legislative party in UP is meeting tomorrow in Lucknow to decide whether to continue with the Mayawati government or not.
