The LTTE said on Sunday that South India was the "most practical location" for peace talks with the Sri Lankan Government because of its proximity.
The Tamil Tigers spokesman Anton Balasingham was quoted in 'TamilNet.com' on Saturday that "Southern India is the most practical location from the perspective of the negotiators of both sides".
"Given the necessity for secure consultation on sensitive matters, regular face-to-face discussions (between teams and their leaderhips in north and south Sri Lanka) must be practical," he told the website.
The group's thinking first aired through a report in an Indian newspaper had said the LTTE desired that Balasingham be based in Chennai during the peace process to attend to his medical needs while being in a position to fly down to the northern Vanni region for personal consultations with LTTE supremo V Prabhakaran.
