Mumbai, Dec 08: Pune ACP, Mohammed Chand Mulani, who was recently quizzed by SIT in the multi-crore fake stamps scam, is likely to be quizzed by the Anti Corruption Bureau in connection with the MPSC recruitment scam, sources said here. "The names of ACP Mulani's two sons figure in the list of 400 candidates who allegedly used unfair means to clear the MPSC exam for police sub-inspectors and sales tax inspectors in the year 1999", a senior ACB official told reporters. The ACB official said the bureau suspects ACP Mulani to be involved in malpractices to have his sons clear the MPSC exam, and for this purpose, he is alleged to have taken help of former MPSC member, Saylee Joshi, who has been arrested by the ACB in the scam. The ACB has already recorded statements of majority of the candidates of 1999 exam who are suspected to have resorted to unfair means, and that includes Acp Mulani's sons, sources said. ACB sources said the bureau has informed the SIT that it would like to interrogate ACP Mulani at SIT's convenience. "The decision, whether to arrest Mulani will be taken only after the interrogation", an ACB official said.
Incidentally, SIT chief, DGP S S Puri, had investigated the MPSC recruitment scam when he was head of the ACB till earlier this year.
