New Delhi, Sept 08: India today said a regional grouping in the area of traditional medicine should be established in the South-East Asia region to draw benefits from the strengths of the system. "The group will help in promoting cooperation among these countries and become a platform to inform who on the benefits of the system," Health Minister Sushma Swaraj told reporters here after the inauguration of the 21st meeting of the health ministers of the South-East Asia region.
India already has such a body called "golden triangle" involving Indian Council of Medical Research, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Department of Indian Systems of Medicine, she said.
"Our South-East Asian region is known for traditional systems of medicine and we need to forge alliances and further our mutual cooperation in these vital areas," she said, adding health care systems must give further recognition and encouragement to codified systems of traditional medicines.
