Jammu, Nov 26: Jammu and Kashmir government has asked Infrastructure Development Finance Company Ltd to prepare a detailed project and arrange private investment for widening and upgrading two major roads of tourist-cum-pilgrim importance in the state. The Mumbai-based IDFC has been asked to prepare projects for Srinagar-Charar-i-Sharief-Yusmarg road in Kashmir and Domel-Katra road in Jammu as these two roads get heavy traffic of pilgrims visiting the world-famous shrines of Charar-i-Sharief and Vaishno Devi.

IDFC chairman-cum-chief executive Nasir Nunji gave a presentation regarding this to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and other state ministers here last night. IDFC, with an equity of Rs 1600 crore, is a leading firm for formulating and executing commercially viable infrastructure development projects in critical sectors like roads, tourism, power reforms and communication among others.

Sayeed said the infrastructure development of Charar-i-Sharief town and tourist resort of Yusmarg should be made part of the project to facilitate the pilgrims and tourists.
