New Delhi, Aug 11: Adopting a wait and watch approach on Pakistan's proposal for resumption of rail links, India today said it was taking a step-by-step view of the whole process and taking into account success of previous steps.
"We have received the proposal from Pakistan," External Affairs Ministry spokesman told reporters when asked about Islamabad's proposal given to India on July 24 for resumption of Samjhauta Express.
"We are taking a step-by-step view of the whole process. We will take other steps keeping in mind the success obtained in the previous steps and confidence generated," he said.
After Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee extended a hand of friendship to Pakistan in April this year, the two countries have appointed high commissioners and taken several steps including re-starting the Delhi-Lahore bus service to enhance people-to-people contacts.
