Srinagar, June 23: Demanding an "impartial" inquiry into a case of alleged highhandedness of security forces, National Conference (NC) today accused the Jammu and Kashmir government of failing to put an end to human rights violations in the state.
A large number of people, both old and young, were subjected to "worst kind of torture without any justification" during a two-day-long "crackdown" by security forces at Dalwan village in Badgam district of Central Kashmir three days ago, NC leader and former minister A R Rather said after visiting
the village.
Claiming that many villagers, including women, were badly injured, he demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident and stern action against those found guilty.
"National Conference expresses grave concern over the increasing trend of human rights violations in the state," he said adding this had "exposed" the government's "so-called healing touch policy".
