New Delhi, Mar 31: Expressing “disappointment” over the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya, the Sangh Parivar today demanded a parliamentary legislation to handover both the undisputed and disputed land to the VHP-backed Ram Janambhumi Nyas and asserted the Ram temple would be built on strength. “We respect the judgement but we are disappointed. The undisputed and disputed land should have been treated as two separate issues and some decision should have been taken on the undisputed land. The verdict is a setback to the efforts to resolve the issue,” RSS spokesman Ram Madhav told a news agency. “The government should explore other options like mobilising support of the political parties and try to arrive at some kind of amicable solution. It should use its legislative powers after securing the support of all political parties,” he said. VHP supremo Ashok Singhal announced “direct action” for Ram temple construction and said the verdict had “shut down any scope for compromise on the issue”. The outfit's firebrand secretary-general Praveen Togadia said the verdict had “deeply hurt” the Hindu society and demanded a legislation declaring the disputed site as Ram Janambhoomi and handing over of both the undisputed and disputed land to the Nyas.

He said VHP's high-power committee would soon meet to decide on the next phase of agitation.

Terming the verdict as “unfortunate” Bajrang Dal national convener Prakash Sharma declared that the Ram temple would be built on the basis of strength - physical, popular and monetary.
