Gerald is a Marvel veteran who previously appeared as White Power Dave in the short film "All Hail the King", but has been cast in the Netflix series as down-and-out machinist Melvin Potter, reported Digital Spy.

Marvel Comics readers will recognise Melvin Potter as the alter-ego of The Gladiator, one of Daredevil's earliest and most prominent enemies.

Shinkoda will be playing a Japanese businessman who aligns himself with "Hell's Kitchen" crime boss Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), while having his own agenda.

Other new additions to the cast include Wai Ching Ho ("The Sorcerer's Apprentice") as successful businesswoman Madame Gao, Rob Morgan ("Believe") as a petty criminal, and Nikolai Nikolaeff ("The Pacific") and Gideon Emery ("General Hospital") as a pair of struggling Russian brothers. Charlie Cox leads the series as blind lawyer Matt Murdock, who takes to the streets as a vigilante under the tutelage of martial arts expert Stick (Scott Glenn).

Marvel's "Daredevil" kicks off a series of inter-connected limited run Netflix comic book adaptations on April 10.
