Mumbai: A revengeful Naagin (female serpent) has always been one of Bollywood's favourite subjects and now the concept will be getting a much elaborated version on television with new show "Naagin" starring actress Adaa Khan in the titular role. Adaa, 26, who is best known for playing a negative role in "Amrit Manthan", found the role of Naagin physically very testing.

"My role is very challenging. I have to shoot mainly in night and compromise on my sleep. The costumes are little uncomfortable and then I have to make my eyes look big," the actress told PTI.

Adaa saw 1976 film "Nagin" starring Reena Roy and Sridevi's 1986 movie "Nagina" to prepare for her role, but the actress said the look she will be donning for the TV show is contemporary and sexy.

"Ekta ma'am had made the Nagin look completely different from how they are perceived generally. The look has a hint of modernity. It is hot and sexy."

When asked why she opted for a negative role again, Adaa said she wants to do varied roles and does not want to stick to regular daily soaps.

"'Naagin' is very different from the normal daily soaps. This is my second show in which I am playing a negative character. I don't want to get typecast and play only positive characters. I want to explore my strength as an actor and try different genres," she said.

Also starring Sudha Chandran, Arjun Bijlani and Mouni Roy, "Naagin" will air on Colors from November 1.
