A special court has allowed ailing film financier Bharat Shah's transfer from Lilavati Hospital to Jaslok Hospital for urgent medical tests even as police alleged that he was adopting tactics since three months to avoid his custody in prison.
Designated judge A P Bhangale on Wednesday allowed to shift Shah to Jaslok Hospital to undergo certain tests on a doctor's plea. He directed that Shah may be taken to Jaslok hospital on Thursday for two days but ordered that the financier should not be sent back to Lilavati Hospital until further orders from the court. Shah has been booked in a case under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for allegedly developing nexus with underworld to target Bollywood personalities for personal gains.
Special public prosecutor Rohini Salian urged for a direction to Lilavati Hospital to follow the right track of treatment and correct line of medication.
She said since shah's admission to hospital on July 10 last, the police had to deploy a large posse of personnel as security guards in and outside the hospital. This was a sheer waste of manpower and the state had to incur huge expenditure on just one accused.
