New Delhi, Aug 19: The National Conference today decided to remain absent from voting and debate on the no-confidence motion moved by Congress in Lok Sabha terming it as nothing but an "election gimmick" by both the ruling and the Opposition sides.
The five-member NC, which severed its ties with the NDA
recently, said "nothing constructive or substantive" was
emerging from the debate, party sources said.
They said after witnessing yesterday's proceedings in the House, the debate on the motion appeared to be an "election stunt" by both the Opposition as well as the NDA.
The decision not to participate in it was taken at a meeting of the National Conference parliamentary party chaired by party president Omar Abdullah here this morning. Bureau Report
