Mohali, Dec 01: President A P J Abdul Kalam would formally inaugurate the Army Institute of Law (AIL) during a visit here today.
The institute, financed and established by Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), has been offering five-year law degree course from April this year, its Director General Veer Singh told reporters here.
He said there were plans to introduce Masters degree and diploma courses in Cyber, Corporate, Business and Human Rights Law.
"The institute, first of its kind in the country which is run by Awes, was shifted from Patiala to Mohali as the Punjab an Haryana High Court is nearby and resources in form of judges, top lawyers are available here," he said.
Meanwhile, a thick blanket of security had been thrown around the institute for the President's visit.



After his inaugural address, Kalam would also interact with students of the ail, Singh said.



Defence Minister George Fernandes, Army Chief Gen N C Vij and Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh would also be present on the occasion.
