With christmas round the corner everybody wants to spruce up their looks. These festive `dos -- everything from casual curls to sleek and sexy -- will work beautifully for day and evening events.

Natty knots
Divide clean, dry hair into 9 equal-size sections around the head and clip each section to hold. Working with 1 section at a time, twist the hair into a coil to form a fairly tight "knot." Use hairpins to hold each knot close to the scalp. Repeat for each section of hair. Zigzag part
Blow-dry clean hair smooth. Use the end of a rattail comb to part the hair. Zigzag the end of the comb through the hair from front to back. Pull hair to sides, using light gel to help hold. Comb hair over shoulders. Gelled curls
Shampoo and condition hair. While hair is still wet, slick hair forward and let dry. Arrange curls around the face, part hair and finger-style as desired. Chignon at the nape of the neck
Blow-dry straight. Work a dime-sized amount of gel or hair lotion through hair. Brush into a low, tight ponytail at nape of neck. Use rubber band to hold in place. Twist hair several times for a tight chignon (with no frayed-out ends). Use hairpins to secure to nape of neck.
