Pondicherry, Jan 26: Senior Congress leader and former Pondicherry Home Minister P Kannan today resigned from the primary membership of the party. Asked about the reason for quitting the party, he told a press conference here that he had decided to quit "in the larger interest of the public”.
He said he would come out with his next plan of action soon. The former Home Minister declined to comment when asked if he was planning to contest the coming Lok Sabha polls as an independent.
He also made it clear that he would not join any party.
