Bangladesh hopes SAARC summit will usher good year for region
Dhaka, Dec 13: Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Morshed Khan today said he hoped a forthcoming South Asian summit in Pakistan would usher in a new area of peace in the region.

The process of normalisation of ties between India
and Pakistan "is a silver lining, and I am very hopeful as
SAARC (the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation)
was set up with lot expectations on the part of the people of
the region," Khan said.
"I am very glad that we will all be together to start the new year and I hope the region will get new guidelines to go forward during the summit amid peace and understanding."
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has said he will attend the summit of leaders of SAARC, which groups Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
