Mumbai, Apr 02: Cricket board today said it had "sorted out its internal finances" and will pay the match fees and other payments due to the players before the team departs for the Dhaka tri-series on April 9. Cricket board secretary S K Nair told reporters that the board had to settle the dues from the Natwest series, which India won in England, to the recently concluded World Cup in South Africa where India finished runners up.
"It is not that the board does not have enough money to pay the players' dues. It was just that we were sorting out the internal finances and now that it is settled we would like to pay the players as early as possible," Nair told reporters shortly after announcing the team for the Dhaka tourney. "In fact, now we have decided to pay the players well in advance and compensate them by paying their share for the Dhaka triangular series even before the tournament commences," Nair said. India, along with South Africa and hosts Bangladesh, will take part in the tri-series to be played in Dhaka from April 11 to 20.
