Vajpayee takes up cross-border terror issue with Chinese leaders
Beijing, June 23: Conveying to the Chinese leadership India`s disappointment over Pakistan`s continued support to cross-border terrorism, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today called for an immediate end to violence in his country perpetrated from across the border.

''It has to come to an end as quickly as possible to achieve peace and stability in south Asia,'' Vajpayee said during two-hour official talks with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao here at the great hall of the people.
Vajpayee's remarks came when Wen commended his peace initiative of offering ''hand of friendship'' to Pakistan. The Chinese premier said good neighbourly relations between India and Pakistan were essential for stability in South Asia and the world.
Briefing mediapersons about the talks, external affairs minister Yashwant Sinha said China was interested in a peaceful South Asia that could contribute to stability in the region and the world.
Vajpayee voiced India's concern about Pakistan's continued pursuit of cross border-terrorism and said his government was disappointed that Islamabad was not putting an end to that.
About the Chinese response to Vajpayee airing his foresaid views, Sinha said, ''The Chinese took a note of it.''
The Chinese government has long held that India and Pakistan resolve their differences over Jammu and Kashmir within the framework of Shimla agreement.
About supply of Chinese missiles to Pakistan, the external affairs minister said he would not comment on it as it was a sensitive issue.
