Srinagar, May 10: Four persons, including a couple, were shot dead by militants in Jammu and Kashmir where security personnel busted two hideouts and seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition since last night, official sources said today. One Mohammad Shafi Mir and his wife Zaitoona Begum, suspected to be police informers by militants, were killed by unidentified ultras in their house at Chati-Bandi in Baramulla district, they said.

Two other civilians Qadoos Magray and Tariq Ahmad Khan were killed by militants for similar reasons in Kupwara and Badgam districts. Militants abducted one Mohammad Ramzan Bhat from his house in Buchoo village of Pulwama district in the wee hours, the sources said.

Security forces busted two militant hideouts located in caves in Poonch and Doda districts and seized a number of arms, ammunition and explosives during the period. One hideout was busted in Surankote forest belt in Poonch in the wee hours and two AK rifles, 1981 rounds, 16 UBGL launchers, 37 hand grenades, 57 detonators and 350 batteries were among the arms and ammunition seized from it.

Besides, 21,000 kgs of ration, 21 blankets and one specialised surgical kit with huge quantity of medicines, were also recovered from the cave, they said.

Another hideout was busted in Doda's Banihal area and one RPG, two AK rifles, 12 magazines, 13 IEDs, 19 grenades and 32 detonators were recovered, the sources said. Bureau Report
