Lucknow, Sept 28: Lauding chief minister Mayawati for putting the BJP-BSP coalition government in Uttar Pradesh on the "right track", deputy prime minister L K Advani today said that the saffron party will not abandon the coalition experiment even if it secures an absolute majority on its own in the next general elections.

Sharing a platform with Mayawati for the first time after she became chief minister, Advani told a large BSP-sponsored rally here that she had successfully shouldered the responsibility in taking measures to ameliorate the condition of different sections of the society. "The BJP had decided to join hands with the BSP in UP as it believed that Mayawati could provide efficient governance," he said in remarks coming a fortnight after the UP government decided not to issue a notification which would revive proceedings against Advani and two Central ministers in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

Mayawati, BSP supremo Kanshi Ram and the top brass of the state BJP unit including president Vinay Katiyar attended the rally during when Samajwadi leader Mulayam Singh Yadav also came under sharp attack.
