New Delhi, July 13: A day after BJP agreed to consider the VHP-RSS demand for a central legislation to facilitate construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Samata Party, a key NDA partner, today disfavoured such a move. "We are not in favour of such a legislation," Samata Party president and Defence Minister George Fernandes told reporters. In an informal chat with mediapersons midway through the party`s national executive meeting here, Fernandes said discussions were still on the Ayodhya issue. The resolution on Ayodhya would be adopted tomorrow at the party`s national council meeting, he said.
Asked if Samata Party will support a legislation for construction of a ram temple in ayodhya if such a bill was introduced in Parliament, the NDA convenor dismissed it as a hypothetical question.
Asked to spell out the stand of his party on such a legislation, he said "Samata Party is not in its favour".
