New Delhi, Apr 04: The Delhi High Court today directed the MCD Commissioner to file an affidavit detailing its stand on the removal of unauthorised constructions in the posh Sainik Farms in South Delhi. Asking the chief of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to file the affidavit within two weeks, a bench comprising Chief Justice B C Patel and Justice B D Ahmed fixed the next date of hearing for April 22.

A public interest litigation filed by advocate Rajeev Awasthi had highlighted illegal constructions in controversial Sainik Farms, where influential people have built palatial houses.

The court had earlier sought details from the Centre and MCD about the exact number of original allottees of land in a society for ex-servicemen in the Sainik Farms and the total area of land given to them.
The PIL had alleged that nexuses between MCD officials, police and builder Mafia was responsible for the construction of about 5,000 houses illegally in the locality.

The Centre in an affidavit, while categorising different unauthorised colonies for regularisation, had said Sainik Farms was not being considered for such a relief as the houses built on agriculture land and reserved green belt were in violation of "land use plan".
