Ahmedabad, Sept 13: Chand Khan, the Lashkar-e-Toiba militant from Srinagar who allegedly accompanied the two terrorists who attacked Akshardham temple at Gandhinagar killing 32 people, was remanded to 18 days' police custody by a special Pota court here today.
Prosecution sources told a news agency that "detailed interrogation of Chand Khan by the city crime branch is required to find out the missing link of the case. The Inspector General Police, Srinagar, has obtained confessional statement of Khan regarding the Akshardham attack. More about this case has to be probed".
Khan, who was flown in amidst tight security by crime branch officials last night, was produced in the court of Sonia Gokani.

Khan's statements and detailed description of the two militants and their modus operandi to J-K police a few weeks ago made dents in the city crime branch's version of the incident as they had claimed that five locals had given shelter and logistic support to the two militants.
Senior crime branch officials, however, maintained that 'Chand's version is not contradicting theirs but only complementing it, plugging the holes of the case'.

The crime branch had also reportedly taken five youths to Srinagar for an 'up close and personal' meet with Khan but he is said to have not recognised any of them, sources said.

The Pota court also remanded the five youths to police custody for five more days.

The terrorist attack on Akshardham on September 24 last had killed 32 persons.
