Bangalore, Oct 25: Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi today distributed ISO 9002/2000 certification to six district hospitals in the state. District hospitals at Belgaum, Chitradurga, Davangere, Tumkur, Dakshina Kannada and Shimoga have won the coveted certification.
State Health and Family Welfare Minister Kagodu Thimmappa, who presided over the function, said there was a wrong notion that government hospitals could not match private ones in maintaining standards.
Congratulating the doctors of these hospitals, he hoped that more and more government hospitals in the state would strive for achieving the certification.
Expressing dissatisfaction at the lack of cleanliness in some hospitals, the minister said that if doctors showed a little more interest in keeping the hospital environment clean, it would make a huge difference.
Nafeeza Fazal, Minister of State for Science and Technology, Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy, said many countries, of late, had adopted a holistic approach, giving equal importance to other systems of medicine along with Alopathy.
