Mumbai, Oct 13: VHP in Maharashtra today accused the
centre and Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh of
adopting repressive measures against the Hindus reaching
Ayodhya for its mass awareness programme on October 17.
"Are Ram bhaktas terrorists?", asked VHP state unit
General Secretary Vynkatesh Abdeo. He also questioned the
BJP-led NDA and state government's moves of deploying heavy
posse of para-military forces and diverting rail traffic.
"Ram bhaktas are being prevented from proceeding towards Ayodhya and they are being deprived of their constitutional right to have darshan of the Ram Lalla (idol)", Abdeo said.
He claimed the morale of "Ram bhaktas" will not be affected by such repressive actions and nearly 50,000 devotees from Maharashtra would reach Ayodhya on October 17 to attend the programme.
Alleging that Hindus coming from Kerala, Karnataka and Gujarat were being arrested in Uttar Pradesh, Abdeo alleged they were not even being provided food and water and their basic human rights were being violated.
Abdeo claimed 15,000 "Ram bhaktas" have already left the state for Ayodhya and few would be travelling to the temple town in the northern state from Mumbai tomorrow.
