Srinagar, Oct 14: Eight people, including six ultras, were killed and two injured as security forces arrested 11 suspected militants, one of them a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander and busted four hideouts seizing 25 kg RDX in Jammu and Kashmir since last night, a police spokesman said today. Three foreign militants of Lashker-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad outfits were killed in an encounter with security forces during search operations at Qazinag in Kupwara district. Two AK assault rifles, seven magazines, 10 UBGL grenades, 8 detonators, three IED sets and a wireless set were seized from them, the spokesman said.
He said two more militants were killed in a gunfight in Kalakote area of Rajouri district. Another militant Altaf Hussain alias Abu Ahmed of Udhampur was arrested during the encounter in an injured condition and was hospitalized.
Security forces killed a militant at Sheikhpora-Pazla in Baramulla district who was identified as district commander of Tehreek-e-Jehad Ghulam Hassan Hurra alias Colonel Zubair of Rangwar village in Baramulla, the spokesman said, adding an AK rifle, 45 rounds, a wireless set and a satellite telephone was seized from him.
Militants abducted 80-year-old Chatiya Din, suspecting him to be a police informer and slaughtered him in Gool Forest area of Udhampur. They chopped off his limbs and hanged his body from a tree before fleeing, the spokesman said.
They also shot dead one Mohammad Shah, 75 years and wounded his wife at Jabri village in Kupwara district, the spokesman said.
