Beijing, Mar 30: A Chinese official has been expelled from the communist party and may be prosecuted after he built a luxurious tomb for himself, with the ventilation system alone costing 100,000 Yuan (12,000 Dollars), state media said today.
Feng Wenchao, formerly the deputy manager of a state-owned tobacco firm in southwest China's Chongqing City, spent seven years and large sums of money to build the 660-square-meter (7,300-square-foot) graveyard, Xinhua news agency reported. The graveyard includes not only a tomb, but a road and an underground pipeline, plus a huge epitaph with an "unreasonable" text, Xinhua said.
Feng has lost his party membership and his case has been referred to the judicial department for further investigation, it said.
