Indore, Nov 03: Differences among senior BJP leaders over nominations was being attributed for the delay in announcing candidates for six of the eight assembly seats in Indore district in Madhya Pradesh.
Except Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) and Sanver (both rural), candidates for other seats--Indore-one, Indore-two, Indore-three, Indore-four, Indore-five and Depalpur--have not been declared by BJP indicating difficulty it is facing in selecting the candidate for the seats, BJP sources said here today.
Amidst reports of differences among leaders over the choice of candidates, state BJP general secretary Krishanamurari Moghe was summoned to Delhi, they said.
BJP has nominated former assembly deputy speaker Bherulal Patidar from Mhow, against sitting Congress MLA and candidate Antarsingh Darbar, while the party has fielded its SC/ST cell vice president Prakash Sonkar against Rajendra Malviya, son of state Congress president Radhakishan Malviya from Sanver.
Sitting Congress MLA from Sanver Premchand Guddu, who was denied ticket has been fielded by the party from Alot in Ratlam district.
In the last elections, BJP could win only two constituencies in the district and the two MLAs—Laxmansingh Gaud (Indore-4) and Kailash Vijaywargiya (Indore-2)—are likely to be re-nominated from their respective seats, the sources said.
However, BJP is finding it difficult to select the candidate from Indore-1, Indore-3, Indore-5 and Depalpur.
While, corporator Rajendra Shukla is leading the race for the party ticket from Indore-one, MLA Gopikrishna Nema is first among the probables for the Indore-three ticket.
From Indore-five, former MLA Bhanwa Singh Shekhawat and city BJP president Mahendra Hardia are in race for the party ticket. However, BJP might field women's wing state general secretary Anju Makhij, as Congress has nominated state women's Congress president Shobha Oza from the constituency.
For the party ticket for Depalpur, senior leader Prem Patel and Mandar Mahajan, son of Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Sumitra Mahajan besides Shekhawat, are among the probables, the sources added. Bureau Report
