Ahmedabad, Nov 03: A special Pota court today rejected the bail plea of two out of the 10 persons arrested for their alleged involvement in the Godhra train carnage.
Pota judge Sonia Gokani rejected the bail plea of Ishaq Yusuf Luhar and Anwar Hussain Pittal while reserving her orders on that of eight others for November 04. The 10 accused had collectively applied for bail last month.
Ahmed Abdul Kala, Mujhfar Usman Hayat and Mohd Musharraf Khan Pathan are among those who filed bail plea.
The special investigating team of the CID (crime) railway police had arrested Luhar on February 27 last year and Pittal on March 03 last year.
Opposing the bail, prosecution led by additional public prosecutor Sudhir Brahmabhatt had submitted that there was prima facie evidence of their involvement in torching the S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express and they were present at the spot along with a mob and were part of the conspiracy.
Some of them were even arrested with weapons, he had contended and also added that atleast 15 of them were still at large and granting bail could result in any of them attempting to tamper with evidences.
In a related development, the Pota court also deferred to November 11 the hearing on bail plea of eight other accused in the case. Bureau Report
