Jalandhar, June 12: Even a week after the caste-conflicts at Talhan village and rioting in parts of city the situation continued to be tense though under control and the trouble-prone areas remained under curfew, official sources said. Curfew was relaxed for two hours in Talhan today while day-time relaxation was given in other parts of the city including in Boota where one person was killed allegedly in police firing last Thursday, Deputy Commissioner A K Gupta said here.

The administration had initiated talks with representatives of the Jat Sikh and Dalit communities so that an amicable solution could be achieved regarding the dispute over the management of the local gurudwara, the route cause of the trouble, he said.
