Amid talks of India-China-Russia trilateral cooperation, a senior Chinese official on Friday said that Beijing hopes to further strengthen cooperation with New Delhi and Moscow on issues like anti-terrorism, international security and stability. "We hope to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with India and Russia in various fields to maintain regional stability and world peace," Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Kong Quan said in Beijing. "India, China and Russia share same or almost identical positions and concerns in fighting international terrorism, in promoting multi-polarity, in maintaining international security and stability and on other important regional and international issues," Kong said. China has always attached importance to developing friendly neighbourly relations with India and Russia, he said, adding that while Sino-Russian strategic partnership is developing smoothly, Sino-Indian ties also continue to improve. Chinese experts said that the recent high-level contacts between India, China and Russia have brightened the prospects for trilateral cooperation between the three nations on issues like Afghanistan and anti-terrorism.
Chinese premier Zhu Rongji's visit to New Delhi in mid-January and separate visits to India by Russian deputy prime minister Ilya Klebanov and foreign minister Igor Ivanov this week have provided necessary platform for increased cooperation on regional and international issues of common concern, a Chinese expert said.
