Directed by MS Sathyu and produced by Ishan Arya, the Hindi-Urdu film was released in 1974.

Now almost four decades after its release, 'Garam Hava' is set to re-release this Friday. It has also been learnt that initially the Censor Board had given the film a rejection certificate as they felt it could lead to communal tensions.

But it was the efforts of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who pushed for the film and the movie released in 1974.

The movie also launched the career of the late actor Farooq Sheikh. After forty years now the movie has been restored and will be screened at 70 screens across eight metros as part of the PVR's Director's Rare series.
