Starz cancelled the critically-acclaimed drama series in 2013 after just two seasons. 'Magic City' show creator Mitch Glazer is now writing and directing a film spin-off, which features Jeffrey Dean Morgan returning to the role of Miami hotel owner Ike Evans, reported Deadline.

Original series cast members Olga Kurylenko, Danny Huston and Kelly Lynch are all attached to reprise their characters as well.

Glazer's movie will see Ike's struggle to keep his hotel above water set against America's conflict with Cuba in 1962 and president John F Kennedy's affair with a Miami Mob boss's mistress.

"The chance to explore this wild time and place and this compelling family saga is a dream come true," Glazer said. It is not yet known who Willis and Murray will play in the movie.

Huston earned a Golden Globe Award nomination for his portrayal of Mob boss Ben Diamond in 2013.
