Director Anubhav Sinha takes steps to safeguard `Tum Bin 2`
As a precautionary measure to safeguard `Tum Bin 2` from leaking, film director and producer Anubhav Sinha has sent across a legal notice to Facebook and YouTube headquarters.
Mumbai: As a precautionary measure to safeguard 'Tum Bin 2' from leaking, film director and producer Anubhav Sinha has sent across a legal notice to Facebook and YouTube headquarters.
He has sent the order via entertainment lawyer Rohini Vakil.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, the caution notice instructs the online conglomerates to take measures to prevent an unofficial leak of the film before or during the actual release date.
Shot in Scotland, 'Tum Bin 2' featuring Neha Sharma, Aditya Seal and Aashim Gulati will release on November 18.
This is the first move Sinha is making as part of his bigger campaign against piracy.
He is reaching out to the concerned authorities countrywide to have 360 degree prevention against piracy of his film.
"Platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube exist in our country for all the content that is uploaded. For some specific high value content like feature films, we expect their infrastructure too to make sure it is not pirated," Sinha said.
"YouTube wasn't initially envisaged to grow in to a platform this big and diverse and hence rested all the copyright responsibilities with the party uploading the content.
"But these platforms have become way bigger than the control of anyone but who created these platforms. They must also take onus of any such mischievous acts and at least show enough intent that they stand by producers in protecting their interests," he added.
The second instalment of the 2001 film "Tum Bin" franchise is written and directed by Sinha and jointly produced by him and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series music label.
During the release week of the film, Sinha will dedicate the whole week to preventing piracy. He has also hired a Singapore-based company for cyber surveillance from the date of the release.
