Haraamkhor` team ecstatic over India premiere
Nawazuddin Siddiqui`s `Haraamkhor` did pretty well at the international level. Now the team is all excited for its premiere in India
Mumbai: After garnering plaudits on the international circuit, the team of "Haraamkhor" is all set to bring the cinematic pursuit of love to India with its premiere at the 17th edition of Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. The film's team is thrilled.
Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who bagged the Best Actor award at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) for "Haraamkhor" earlier this year, is extremely excited as he says the role holds a special place in his life.
“Some of the roles are extremely special to me, the one in 'Haraamkhor' is unconventional and the announcement about the film, being part of MAMI, gives me this extreme pleasure,” Nawazuddin said in a statement.
“Haraamkhor” will be screened at the film gala, which will start on October 29, under the India Gold category. The film, which is also known as “The Wretched”, has travelled to seven film festivals, including the 13th annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA).
Producer Guneet Monga said the premiere will end the wait to showcase the film on home ground.
"We've been waiting for long now to know how the audience here in India will respond, after receiving such warm acknowledgments in international festivals, we look forward, and really what better a platform than MAMI," Monga said.
The film, which also features “Masaan” fame star Shweta Tripathi, is an innocent and emotionally driven story about a 15-year-old girl's infatuation for her 35-year-old school teacher. It is an anecdote to the journey of three wretched souls in pursuit of love. The film will soon be released in India.
