The 46-year-old actor is currently prepping for his directorial venture "Shivaay". He will start shooting for "Sons of Sardaar" once he wraps it up.

"Need ur best wishes for Sons Of Sardaar, will match the scale of Hollywood war film 300 and based on epic Battle of Saragarhi," Devgn posted on Twitter.

The Battle of Saragarhi was fought on September 12, 1897, by 21 Sikhs of the fourth Battalion of the Sikh Regiment against 10,000 Afghan tribesmen. The 21 Sikhs posthumously received the Indian Order of Merit, which was British India's equivalent of the Param Vir Chakra and Saragarhi Day is celebrated every September 12 in Sikh communities around the world.

This would not be the first time Ajay will portray a historic character. His role as freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in "Legend of Bhagat Singh" won him the National award. "Sons Of Sardaar" will hit theatres in Diwali 2017.
