`Star Wars` may feature gay character: J J Abrams
Director J.J. Abrams has revealed that a gay character might be added to the `Star Wars` world.
Los Angeles: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams has revealed that a gay character might be added to the "Star Wars" world.
Abrams always wants his movies to "look the way the world looks", so he thinks it's possible that the sci-fi film franchise will feature a homosexual character in the new instalments, reports aceshowbiz.com.
"When I talk about inclusivity, it's not excluding gay characters, it's about inclusivity, so of course," he said at the US-Ireland Alliance Oscar Wilde Awards in Santa Monica, California on Thursday.
"To me, the fun of 'Star Wars' is exploring the possibilities, so it seems insanely narrow-minded to say that there wouldn't be a homosexual character in that world," he added.
Abrams, who is not back at the helm for "Star Wars Episode VIII", but is still involved as an executive producer, tried to reflect today's diversity in "The Force Awakens".
He also hired both - a female (Daisy Ridley) and a person of colour (John Boyega) as the new leads in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".
