Patna, Nov 22: Bihar government will soon send a
team of officials to trouble-torn Assam for an on the spot
assessment of the situation in the state in view of the
unabated violence against Biharis, RJD President Laloo Prasad
Yadav said here today.
"A team of officials from Bihar will camp in Assam for
taking stock of the situation and liaise with the government
in matters relating to security of life and property of
Biharis there," Yadav, who spoke to Assam Chief Minister Tarun
Gogoi this morning, told a news agency.
Yadav said though Gogoi informed him that eight Bihari
Brick Kiln workers were gunned down by the Ulfa near Mahakali
tea estate in Tinsukia district. ''independent information
received by us suggest that the number was higher.
"We are in the process of confirming this," he said.
Yadav said he had spoken to Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani once again and requested him to lead an all-party parliamentary delegation on a goodwill mission to Assam to instill a sense of security and confidence among the Biharis.
Asked about Advani's response, he said, ''the deputy Prime Minister assured me that he will look into my proposal. If he is not prepared to go, I may visit Assam with like-minded MPs any day after tomorrow''.
Yadav said he had told Advani that given the stature of Union Minister of State for Home Swami Chinmayanand and North East Affairs Minister C P Thakur not much could be expected to come out of their today's trip to Assam.
''With Assam continuing to slip into anarchy, I also requested Advani to send more central troops to the state'', he said.
