India faces no threat to its borders from China: Fernandes
Ambala, Aug 01: Defence Minister George Fernandes today asserted India faced no threat to its borders from China and insisted Beijing`s recent comments on Arunachal Pradesh were in line with that position for the last 50 years.

"Nothing new. This has been china's position for the last 50 years," he told reporters here when referred to recent comments from china that Arunachal Pradesh was not part of India.
He noted that there was "no change" in Chinese "attitude on certain border areas".
Asked whether India's borders were threatened in view of the Chinese claim, Fernandes said "our borders are not threatened".
Queried whether India was in a position to meet China's might unlike in the 1962 war, he shot back "we don't want to discuss 1962."
On the suicide attacks by terrorists on security forces' installations, the defence minister said lessons had been learnt and corrective steps were being taken wherever needed.
