Bangkok, Aug 16:Tuk-tuks may be the Thai capital's most famous and perhaps, the most eye-catching form of transport, but they could soon be overtaken by the much more common taxi, thanks to an initiative by the Ministry of Culture to introduce "culture taxis" in Bangkok. Under the scheme, which was announced on Monday, the ministry, together with Rajabhat Institute Suan Sunata, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's tourism promotion division and the National Culture Office, taxi drivers would help publicise the uniqueness of Thai culture, with the help of the famous Siamese smile and good manners. Training for the first batch of 150 taxi drivers has already begun, with most part of the drill focusing on cultural studies and English language skills. Once the drivers complete their course successfully, they would have to display a prominent 'culture taxi' sign on their vehicle before plying it on the roads. Bureau Report
