Lucknow, Oct 08: BSP workers today burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in protest against the CBI raids on the residences of party president Mayawati in connection with the multi-crore Taj heritage corridor scam. The BSP workers led by a local legislator assembled in front of Mayawati's residence where the CBI officials were carrying out raids and burnt the effigy of Vajpayee and shouted anti-government slogans terming the raids as "politically motivated". BSP state president Barkhu Ram Verma said reports of protests have also come in from Deoria, Gorakhpur, Basti, Varanasi, Azamgarh, Lakhimpur, Bijnore and Ambedkarnagar where workers in large numbers staged demonstrations against the Centre.
